2-7 Single Draw

Uncategorizedadmin27 January 2010

2-7 single draw is a five card draw variants that is available at the internet’s most popular poker room, Pokerstars. 2-7 single draw is also an offshoot of the more popular 2-7 triple draw which made a big comeback in 2009. As 2-7 Triple Draw grows so to will 27 single draw. This article will teach you the rules of 2-7 single draw and some of the basic strategies you can use to become a winning 27 TD player.

How To Play 2-7 Single Draw Poker

The major difference between 5 card draw and 27 single draw is the objective. In five card draw you want the highest hand and in 2-7 single draw you want the lowest. It is a lot like comparing 7 card stud and razz poker, only there are a few special rules in 27 single draw. The game starts two players putting in the blinds, just like in Holdem. Each player is then dealt 5 cards. After viewing their cards each player gets a chance to check, bet, call or fold, depending on the situation. Then each player gets to draw cards. You can opt to not draw any or draw up to 5 new cards. After this there is another betting round. The player with the lowest hand wins, but there are a few things you should be aware of:

·                     Aces are ALWAYS high (bad)

·                     Straights are high

·                     Flushes are high

If none of these rules came into play the best hand would be an A-5 straight but that is not the case. Thus the best hand in 2 7 single draw is 23457, which you will receive much less often than you get pocket rockets in Holdem.

2-7 Single Draw Strategy

I want to share some basic tips on playing 27 single draw at Pokerstars. The first thing to keep in mind is that it is only available in the no limit format at Pokerstars. This is somewhat odd because 2-7 triple draw is played almost exclusively in the fixed limit format. The most important 2-7 single draw strategy is hand selection. You only want to play hands that include 3 or more cards under 10 in most cases. Always keep the odds in mind when you are deciding when to call someone’s suspected bluff. If you have a king high hand and the other player bet before & after the draw, drawing 2 cards himself, knowing the odds of him having a better hand than you is very important. This is especially true when you factor in the pot odds. Needless to say there is a lot of bluffing in 2-7 single draw.

7 Game Poker Mix

Uncategorizedadmin22 January 2010

7-Game Mix or 7 Game Poker is a new mixed poker game offered at one of the largest online poker rooms, Full Tilt Poker. 7-Game Poker is a mixed poker game which means it is a collection of regular card games that are played in rotations. Further more, 7 Game Poker is a mixed limit variants which means it includes more than one betting format. This all may sound pretty complicated but in the end 7-Game mix is only as hard as the sum of all of its parts, which include 6 different card games. Five of these games are played in the fixed limit, pot and no limit formats. Each specific game is played for 10 hands and then you will play the next game in the line-up for 10 hands and so on and so forth.

Card Games In 7 Game Poker

  1. Texas Hold’em – Fixed Limit
  2. 7 Card Stud H/L – Fixed Limit
  3. Razz Poker – Fixed Limit
  4. Omaha H/L – Fixed Limit
  5. 7 Card Stud – Fixed Limit
  6. Texas Hold’em – No Limit
  7. Omaha Hi – Pot Limit

The only real 7 Game Poker rule is that you will play each game for 10 hands/rotation as I’ve already mentioned. The stakes in 7-Game Poker are worth mentioning because many players are confused regarding this at first. Let’s say you are playing at a $2/4 7-Game Mix table. Obviously there is a big difference between a $2/4 fixed limit game and a $2/4 pot or no limit game. To address this problem Full Tilt has lowered the stakes during the pot limit Omaha & NL Hold’em rotations. For instance, in the example above ($2/4) the stakes for the two non-fixed limit games are $.50/$1.00.

7 Game Poker Mix Strategy

One of the key strategies in 7 Game Mix is to find what I like to call your opponent’s “weak games”. Very few players at the table will excel at every game so finding these weak spots and exploiting them should be a top priority. You should also know your weaknesses and try to improve them. For example my weak spot is Razz. I have been reading up on Razz strategies and my overall results have improved. Once you have a good feel for a player you should use the notes feature to record what you have learned because you will likely play that player again down the road.

7 card stud poker in 2010

Uncategorizedadmin18 January 2010

Seven card stud poker has been growing in popularity during the last few years. Actually each of the three Stud poker variants has grown at roughly the same pace. In 2010, 7 card stud, 7 card stud h/l and razz poker traffic levels are up around 200% compared to the same time last year and roughly 400% compared to 2008. Each week the 2 largest online poker rooms host a huge guaranteed tournament for each Stud variant with prize pools ranging from $5,.000 to $10,000.   In this post I will give a breakdown of the current popularity for each stud poker variant in 2010.

7 Card Stud In 2010

Seven card stud has seen an enormous increase in traffic at a wide range of stakes. At Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker alone you can find not hundreds but thousands of real money 7 card stud players around the clock. More 7 card stud tournaments are running per day in 2010 compared to the number of stud tournament that run per week in 2007.

7 Card Stud H/L In 2010

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo has also seen a comparable increase in traffic at both ring tables and tournaments. Stud HL offers slightly less traffic than Stud at most poker rooms and the tournament action is roughly the same.

Razz Poker In 2010

Razz poker has easily been the biggest gainer out of the three stud games. This is especially true for Razz poker tournaments. At Pokerstars for example there is a big guaranteed event for each stud game as I mentioned above. The stud and stud hl events only have $5,000 prize pools while the razz poker tournament is double that at $10,000. I would say there are 50% more razz poker tournaments than 7 card stud or stud 8 or better.

Stud Poker In Mixed Poker Games

Mixed poker games have exploded in 2008-2009 as well. Every major mixed poker game these days includes at least one stud poker variant, if not all three. H.O.R.S.E poker has been the most popular mixed game for the last 50 years and it includes all three. In 2010, two new variants have taken the lead and they include all three as well, 7-Game Mix and 8-Game Mix. As mixed games grow the stud games will gain more traffic as players fall in love with them or just want to become better players so they can compete in the mixed games.
